PROJECT OVERVIEW
DURATION
5 months
ROLE
UX Researcher
Synopsis
In my role as the primary UX Researcher for a Continuous Glucose Monitoring app (CGMa) in the healthcare domain, I undertook the following responsibilities:
Conducted over 7 moderated usability tests.
Defined study objectives and ensured adherence to protocols.
Established participant screening criteria and coordinated with recruitment agencies for usability testing.
Collaborated with PMs and UX Designers to set test goals, requirements, and discussion guides.
Communicated research findings through both written reports and oral presentations.
Business Problem
Diabetes Management in Real-Time: Traditional glucose monitoring methods present multiple challenges:
Inconsistency: Manual glucose measurements can vary due to user errors and device calibration.
Gaps in Data: Sporadic testing provides limited snapshots, missing critical glucose fluctuations.
Discomfort: Regular finger-pricks can be intrusive, discouraging consistent monitoring.
Safety Concerns: Delayed detection of abnormal glucose levels might result in severe complications.
Reactive Instead of Proactive: Limited data restricts preemptive actions against potential glucose anomalies.
Solution
Innovative Solution: Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Systems
Real-Time Monitoring: Continuous tracking offers a holistic view of glucose trends throughout each day.
Proactive Alerts: Immediate notifications when glucose deviates from the optimal range, ensuring timely intervention.
User-Friendly: With a single sensor application, users get days to weeks of continuous data, minimizing the discomfort of regular pricks.
Data-Driven Insights: Continuous data equips users with knowledge about the impacts of activities, diet, and medications on their glucose levels.
Empowered Management: Continuous feedback enables informed decisions for insulin, diet, and other lifestyle choices, enhancing diabetes control.
Glucose Tracking Journey
I developed a detailed visual comparison between the traditional Blood Glucose Monitoring (BGM) method and the advanced Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) system, highlighting their journey from onboarding and monitoring to the offboarding phase.
Purpose
Assess the usability of the 'G6 CGM' interactive prototype, focusing on Patient Onboarding, Monitoring, and Offboarding processes. Gather feedback from Bedside Nurses, Nurse Managers, Diabetes Nurse Educators, and IT Specialists to pinpoint areas for improvement.
For one of my user research projects, I recruited bedside nurses from diverse hospitals across various regions in the U.S.
